Guided trips are available year round, weather permitting. The average Striper caught weighs 10 to 12 pounds! We are the largest guide service on the lake, with four guides to serve your needs! All guides are U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Marine Captains, trained in CPR and first aid and are fully licensed and insured! We also specialize in corporate trips! Specializing in “Trophy”Striper Fishing, owner Captain Jim Durham is a Kentucky State licensed guide who has fished Lake Cumberland year round for most of his adult life and is creator of the Striper Fish like a Pro DVD series and his own line of fishing lures. Captain Jim is also a Staff Officer with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary as well as a Coast Guard Merchant Marine Captain. What you Can Expect to Catch – How we Fish We target the mighty Striper. We also offer Smallmouth, Walleye and Crappie trips (winter only!) for multi species fishermen! We use only the freshest live Gizzard and Alewives shad as well as natural lake shiners and suckers, as well as a variety of artificial lures. In the late summer and fall months, we use artificial lures and downriggers to target suspended schools of fish holding in up to 100 feet deep on the river channels. What to Bring with You – Check List You will need to bring lunch, drinks (Dry County), warm clothing, soft soled shoes (tennis or deck shoes), sun glasses, sun screen, hat, cooler for fish fillets and rain gear (if predicted). Fishing License is (mandatory). Deposits & Cancellation Policy A $100.00 deposit is required within 5 days of when you make your reservation for any StriperFun fishing trip. The deposit is non-refundable, but we will reschedule with at least three (3) weeks advance notice. Re-scheduling requests or cancellation without at least three (3) weeks advance notice will cause your deposit to be forfeit. Re-scheduling is not allowed because of predicted foul weather, including predicted rain. We fish in the rain and your boat is covered. The Captain reserves the right to re-schedule if the weather turns bad on the day of the trip. Generally, this decision will be based upon hazardous travel conditions (snow or ice) or frequent lightening the morning of the trip. Where we are located StriperFun Guide Service is headquartered at beautiful Lee's Ford Marina. We can arrange all your lodging for you as a courtesy in Lee's Ford's great cabins! If you are renting a houseboat, with advance notice, we can also pick you up right from your houseboat! What is Provided All bait and equipment is provided and your boat is fully outfitted with marine radio, Coast Guard safety equipment, GPS/fish finders and a heated enclosure for bad weather. StriperFun will clean and bag your catch (at no extra charge – tips appreciated) and will provide photos for you to remember your trip. Your trip is a six (6) hour charter or until the boat's limit of Stripers is caught. The limit is 2 Stripers over 24 inches per person booked. Under Kentucky law, the Captain cannot keep fish on a paid charter only the customers can keep fish. If the limit of Stripers for your boat has not been caught at the end of the standard charter time and your group desires to fish longer than the (6) hour charter, the cost is $50.00 per each additional hour until the boat is back at the dock.
